Many parents will be signing up for scholar transport. Before signing up for scholar transport, it is important to check that the vehicle that will be transporting your child to school is safe.
Speaking to Cape Talk radio, Western Cape transport department spokesperson Siphesihle Dube, said these are the three things that a transport driver should have.
- Valid drivers licence
- Professional driver permit (PDP)
- A roadworthy certificate
It is important to also get ask other parents for a recommendation, as they have the first-hand experience with the service provider.
You can also track your child’s transport to see if they are getting to school on time by downloading the Loctransie app, which tracks your child’s transport from when they leave your house until they arrive at school. The app can be easily downloaded on the App store.
If the driver is not the owner of the vehicle, ask for the details of the owner. Should you run into any problems with the driver, the owner can hold them accountable.
