On Saturday, Soweto was buzzing with excitement as SPARK Soweto Primary School received global recognition as the World’s Best School for community collaboration. This incredible milestone was celebrated by many parents, employees, and scholars, who were all thrilled with this remarkable achievement.
SPARK Soweto recognised for making an impact in the community
The World’s Best School prize, an initiative by T4 Education in partnership with Templeton World Charity Foundation, Accenture, and American Express, is dedicated to promoting change and innovation, fostering a diverse and collaborative community committed to improving school culture worldwide.
The prestigious award recognises schools globally making a real difference in their communities. SPARK Soweto won the prize for its unwavering commitment to serving the community of Soweto through various initiatives, such as erecting concrete bins to stop littering and raising awareness against social ills that affect many children and women in their community. The school was also involved in a march against bullying, a significant problem in South African schools.
Dedicated teachers, parents and scholars acknowledged for their role
SPARK Soweto Principal Nthambeleni Nyambeni thanked the scholars and educators for their dedication and commitment to excellence, leading to winning the World’s Best School title.
“This recognition is a testament to our collective hard work and the power of quality education. Our goal is to create sparks of brilliance in every scholar, and receiving this award only fuels our passion to continue nurturing future leaders and innovators.”
Since its establishment in January 2019, SPARK Soweto has grown to serve over 800 scholars.
The school was founded to address the shortage of schools in the area. Previously, parents had to go to the suburbs for quality education.
Igniting a network of endless possibilities
Stacey Brewer, SPARK School’s Co-Founder and CEO, envisioned igniting a network of endless possibilities where innovation, collaboration, and purpose converge when she founded SPARK Schools.
“Our mission is to empower scholars, teachers, and the community to shine. Together, we light the way to a brighter future.”
Brewer emphasises that SPARK Schools is committed to bridging the affordability gap and takes pride in delivering quality education while involving school communities in the education journey.
“When teachers, parents, and scholars work together, the magic of learning happens.”
Overall, SPARK Soweto’s recognition as the world’s best school for community collaboration is a remarkable achievement that demonstrates the power of schools when they make a concerted effort to serve and improve their communities.
